This is a pair of French clip earrings in an antique bronze finish and features a 1974 10c American stamp called "Legend of Sleepy Hollow: Headless Horseman and Ichabod" from the American Folklore series.
The stamp depicts the famous tale written by Washington Irving published in 1820. The story is set in 1790 in the countryside around the Dutch settlement of historical Tarrytown, New York, in a secluded glen called Sleepy Hollow.
The legend is centered around the schoolmaster Ichabod Crane and the Headless Horseman, said to be the ghost of a Hessian trooper who had his head shot off by a stray cannonball during the American Revolutionary War, and who "rides forth to the scene of battle in nightly quest of his head".
The images were taken from real, used, vintage postage stamps to make an asymmetrical pair of earrings and may have post office cancellation marks.
Size of earring is 18mm and they are lead and nickel free.
Earrings are water resistant but not waterproof, I recommend removing before showering, bathing or swimming.
